Superintendent's Message

Superintendent's Message

Hello and welcome to the Bridgeport Exempted Village School District website.  On behalf of the school board, administration, faculty, staff, and students, I want to thank you for entrusting us with your children. Our district has the pleasure of serving over 770 preschool through 12th grade students in Belmont County. Here at the Bridgeport School District, we focus on ways to provide our students with the very best.  All student’s grades K-2 have access to iPads while all students in grades 3-12 are given a school issued iPad at the beginning of each school year to use throughout the year.  While we strive to stay at the forefront of technological advances in education, our focus remains on quality teaching and relationship focused instruction. From the moment you step into our school building, you will sense a loving learning environment that is welcoming to all students.  Culturally, we believe in our students and are committed to developing good people who will go out and make a positive difference in the world.
As we enter a new 2023-24 school year, I want to remind you of some of our strengths as a district.
  1. Family – We know how important family is and your children mean the world to us.
  2. Believe – We believe in your children and change lives for the better.
  3. Relationship – Simply stated, we are better together.
  4. Opportunity – One way is through technology tools for our students where learning is meaningful and engaging.
  5. Tradition – We honor our education at Bridgeport while striving to serve your children and you with the very best.
  6. Welcoming – We are positive and welcome every student.  We believe every child can contribute to our Bulldog Family.
  7. We Care – Every student that walks through this building is cared for in every way possible.
  8. Students First – We remain the supporting cast and look for ways to help our students shine in their own unique potential.
During our first year of offering College Credit Plus (CCP) Coursework on site, our students earned 186 semester hours with a cost savings over $33,000 towards their future educational endeavors.  We will continue to expand our CCP offerings with 2 additional courses this year.  CCP course offerings are free to all students in the Bridgeport EVSD.
Last year, we offered free athletic passes to all students’ grades PS-12.  This year we look to continue this incentive but with one small change.  Students grades PS-6 will receive free athletic passes.   Students grades 7-12 will also receive free athletic passes IF they sign up to be a member of our Staying Clean Club.  Students may sign up for the Staying Clean Club at Bulldog Pride Night or during their lunch period during the first week of school.  Physically at the school site, you will notice a few upgrades.  These include a new flat portion of our roof, updates to the exterior of the building with lighting, and a new PA system has been installed with emergency signage in the cafetorium and music rooms.  I want to inform everyone that we have switched the away and home seating at the John J. Havelicek Gymnasium.  Please recognize the signage above the gym doors and know that we made this change with our Bulldog fans and student athletes in mind.   Students, as you enter this new school year, I encourage you to get involved in some fashion, move forward with great expectation, pour out kindness to all and embrace the proud legacy of being a Bridgeport Bulldog!

Thank you, make it a great year and as always, Go Dogs!
