The Bridgeport Exempted Village School District has an active Title I Parent Involvement Program that invites parents into the building to hear students share what they are researching and writing about throughout the school year. This program also includes parent and grandparent volunteer readers in the elementary. Attendance at these meetings is always impressive and meetings include information that parents find useful to help lend their child support at home with their child’s education. On Thursday, Jan. 23rd the theme of the meeting was MLK, Jr. and the impact he had on our students personally through a choice of mini research reports, poetry or letters to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. himself, as if he were still alive to hear his impact from their perspective. The Civil Rights Movement took place under his leadership during the mid 1950’s through the late 1960’s, but the effect is still lingering in present day. We are thankful the students can appreciate the value of our history and respond. The students in grades 3 and 4 pictured participated in this Title I Parent Meeting. Our students and teachers make this school the jewel that it is.
Students Complete STEM Activity

Through imagination and creativity, students in Miss Schambach’s class created structures using materials from their desk and caddy. They created a two-story house, park with a concession stand, and Washington D.C.
